Killington Resort

Killington spans six interconnected peaks and 1,526 skiable acres, making it the largest ski area in the Eastern US, with a reputation ("The Beast of the East") built on its size and terrain variety rather than being an especially gentle mountain. Families should aim for the Snowshed base area, Killington's dedicated beginner and learning zone, which keeps first-timers away from the more advanced terrain spread across the rest of the mountain. The Beast Kids seasonal program runs for ages 4-15. Killington also runs one of the longest seasons in the country, frequently opening in October and staying open into late spring thanks to extensive snowmaking. There is no major airport nearby -- Albany International or Burlington International are both roughly 1.5-2 hours away.
