Heavenly spans the California/Nevada state line above South Lake Tahoe, with sweeping lake views and 4,800 skiable acres -- one of the largest resorts in the Tahoe basin.
Heavenly's terrain runs mostly intermediate (53%) with real advanced/expert terrain in Mott and Killebrew Canyons for parents or older teens, plus some of the best lake views of any resort in the country from the top of the gondola. It sits right above South Lake Tahoe's town, so families have a full range of off-mountain restaurants, shops, and a casino strip (Nevada side) within a short drive -- more built-up than a purpose-built ski village, which some families prefer and others don't. Kids 4 and under ski free (ticket picked up in person at the window).
