Back to Santa FeThe ORIGINAL Wander New Mexico "Sip & Savor" Plaza Tour
4.9 ★ · 364 reviews · from USD219

Don't be fooled by imitations and take THE original "SIP & SAVOR" chef-guided food and history tour, offered by the #1 Tour/Activity Operator in Santa Fe.
This classic Santa Fe food and drink adventure is focused on historic downtown Plaza neighborhood. Explore Santa Fe by foot while sampling the best in local food and beverage. Along the way, you’ll learn about the city’s long and fascinating history, with an emphasis on how Native, Hispanic, and Anglo cultures shaped – and were shaped by – the region’s unique (and delicious!) food culture.
This tour is designed with adventurous eaters in mind and includes a variety of restaurants, and is NOT focused exclusively on New Mexican food. We bring you the best of Santa Fe, which includes a diverse array of cuisines.

- Guide Lauren is the standout of nearly every review — travelers across dozens of visits describe her as knowledgeable, funny, warm, and genuinely passionate about Santa Fe, with her professional chef background adding depth to each stop. At least one reviewer noted that she felt less like a guide and more like a new friend by the end of the afternoon.
- The tour blends local culinary history with tasting stops, visiting four locations around the plaza where food and drinks are woven together with stories about New Mexican culture and Santa Fe architecture — reviewers consistently say this combination makes it feel more substantive than a typical food tour.
- Specific food and drink highlights come up repeatedly across reviews, with churros, margaritas, tacos, New Mexico wines, and champagne tastings among the most-praised stops. Several travelers singled out the churro experience as the unexpected highlight of the afternoon.
- A practical note mentioned by more than one reviewer: the tour leans noticeably toward drinks, so those expecting a primarily food-focused experience should know the sip-to-savor ratio skews toward libations — though non-alcoholic substitutions were available and described as genuinely good.
- Lauren's habit of sharing restaurant, gallery, and activity recommendations beyond the tour itself is called out by multiple reviewers as a bonus, with several saying her insider tips shaped the rest of their Santa Fe trip.
- The tour draws a wide range of group types — solo travelers, anniversary couples, girls' trips, and groups as large as 16 — and multiple reviewers mention that meeting fellow participants and running into them later around town was an unexpected highlight. At least one reviewer flagged that altitude and hydration are worth keeping in mind, and appreciated that Lauren actively encouraged the group to drink water throughout.
